Everyone is talking about Street Fighter V, about what they love/hate in the new game's artstyle, about what CAPCOM should've/shouldn't have done etc... And I believe it's all good and fair, to be honest.
So, my idea here is pretty simple: what happens when you (well, 'I', since this is totally personal and subjective XD) apply some SFV design elements/choices to another game? I picked up GAROU - Mark of the Wolves because I love Fatal Fury, and also because I believe it's a game that could be reimagined in a very similar way, compared to SF. There will be classic characters, new entries, and maybe a few guests from other SNK titles... Everything will be kept at a 'concept sketch' level, to keep up the pace and - hopefully - your interest.

So... Now you know why Terry has that SERIOUS look on his face. XD
Reminiscent of the gloomy design of Franken-Nash, I tried to imagine what could've happened to a still young Rock, left alone in South Town jungle by our globetrotting Terry. Not necessarily bananas-evil like his father - or maybe just not yet? - this new Rock is way more turbulent than before, surely a tougher nut to crack for Terry, now.

Jeez, one has only briefly left his foster-son to went to a little self-knowing journey, and when he returns, his son is Super Geese, the Ultimate Geese of all of the Howards (also with Biff Tannen's whiskers from alternative evil future timeline).
South Town is horrible place to raise your kids, all parents should remember this.

Original Rock was kinda cool (especially his music theme), but I always was under impression that SNK tried to make second Kyo from him - teenage hot head, who borrowed specials from two other well known SNK's characters. So I would not mind if in the sequel he just transforms into Geese (with different moveset), though I would feel little bit bad for Terry - he maybe not a best kind of father, but damn this guy looks evil.
Still hope there is something good left in this guy, 'cause I'm not a fan of this trope when the blood defines the character (or gives you superpowers and specials when others had to training for years to learn all this magic-martial-arts stuff).

I didn't imagine this Rock to be a murderous bastard like his father, but more like an ambiguous, badass character - I'm with you when you say you've always seen a Kyo 2.0 into the original Rock - able to bring up some tension in the game. So yeah, even though I wanted to give him that proper 'oh shit' look, typical of many other SNK bad guys (such as Rugal or Goenitz), he's not meant to be completely lost. ^_-

Man, I'm loving the heck out of your redesigns!

I'm a big fan of Mark of the Wolves (even if I never learnt how to play XD), and I can't wait to see your version of old Gato!

Aw thanks man! Really glad you're enjoying the series. ^_-

Yeah, I plan to complete at least 3 different lineups - which would make 15 characters - to begin with, and maybe add a few more afterwards (as in DLC packs and such things), so this is going to be quite a long project.
Oh, and with the next row, I'll start throwing in new entries too. :D

Woe is me that it's not Tao Pai Pai but woe is me again that this is soooo totally badass looking!

I was going with my original hunch that it was going to be Gato but I was dead wrong.
This would be an appropriate look for Rock. You even gave him his father's trademark smirk and cockiness. Rock could be the "Geese" of the current generation. That off shoulder jacket really does amp up his already awesome character design!

With superb designs like these, I'm sure as hell would be waiting patiently for the next redesign. It's definitely worth the wait and definitely a lot better than the "King Of Dinosaurs" bullshit they did to Tizoc! That's some grade A abomination that even Roger or Alex wouldn't wanna mess with!

Hahaha, dude, you're too kind, thank you, and... I must confess that I'm LOVING what they're doing with KoFXIV.
I mean, it started up so bad, so dull, so uninspired, that it almost looks like a different game to me, now. It's grown on me update after update. There are still things that I don't like - i.e., why didn't they use Xuan Dou Zhi Wang engine for the game, to begin with? It looks so damn perfect for a KoF setting, especially after Terry and Benimaru were added to the roster. With this new, still basic 3D artstyle, I feel like we'll need at least a couple of iterations to see a proper luscious KoF again - but overall I'm in. I actually like the new character Sylvie alot too. Sounds crazy, I know. :D

I actually liked that game!
And for them to eventually work on a full 3D game later on was a bit disappointing. I think it's a marketing decision now that almost every single fighting games are veering towards that very direction.
I like how Mugen looking Xuan Dou Zhi Wang was.
It's 3D but behaves like a 2d sprite game.
I remember being impressed by as to how a Mugen game could have it's own arcade cabinet and be played in public. 

I also saw KOF's final boss. His design looks bland and boring. He's just some douchebag with a golden belt buckle and a Rolex watch. What gives, that's not very boss material-ey!
And not very SNK-ey to say the least.
